Guidelines and Grant Making Process for Grant Applications

New Hampshire Based

The grants must serve New Hampshire and New Hampshire individuals.

Individuals, Not Institutions

Applicant must demonstrate a specific, concrete nexus between an identified population to be served and the manner in which the requested grant will support services or facilities for that identified population.

The Oleonda Jameson Trust contains a specific admonition that the Trust must benefit individuals, not institutions.

Benefit the Poor, Needy, Destitute

Applicant's program must involve services to poor and destitute individuals, or must facilitate the applicant's ability to provide services to such individuals. The applicant's plan or program must serve members of a community who, using their own resources, are or may be unable to access such facilities or services.

New Service Initiatives Preferred

The Trustees favor new or enhanced service initiatives by either established or new agencies. Long term support of an established service to a specific population, no matter how worthy the service may be, is less favored.

Beyond Program Operating Budget

Applicant must demonstrate a significant likelihood of long term success. Grants will not be made solely for the purpose of making up general operating budget shortfalls. The Trustees require an explicit description of the services or facilities to be supported by the grant and how such services or facilities will be available to individuals.

Timing of Grant Reviews

Grant applications are received throughout the calendar year and are reviewed by the Trustees quarterly

(March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15.)

Once an application is received, the applicant will receive an acknowledgment letter with the specific dates that they can expect to receive a response as well as funding if the grant is approved.

Please note the process followed by the Trustees of the Oleonda Jameson Trust when reviewing grant applications is mandated by guidelines promulgated by the Probate Court for Merrimack County and accepted by the Trustees. The guidelines are based on and are intended to implement the intent of Oleonda Jameson as expressed in her will.
